Stress is normal. In fact, it’s a part of everyday life.
Don’t let people tell you it’s not normal, especially as a youth. We hear a lot, “You’re too young to have stress.” But that isn’t true, as we learned in our podcast.
No matter your age, you can experience stress. It can even begin shaping us early in life.
Some common causes of stress include school pressure, friendships, and bullying.
In friendships, you might start to wonder, “Are they annoyed with me?” or “Do they not like me anymore?” Even just thinking about those possibilities can create stress.
Bullying, which isn’t always taken seriously, can lead to stress, insecurity, and sometimes even suicidal thoughts.
Trying new things, being in big crowds, hanging out, and meeting new people can all be overwhelming and stressful also.
Finding ways to calm down stress can help. Everyone is different, so find something that works for you. It could be listening to music, talking to a friend, opening up, or taking time to reset and relax.
Don’t let stress get in the way of your everyday life. Don’t let it control or break you.
Take a break. Take some time to think.
Don’t feel weakened by stress. Think of it as a good thing and something you can grow through.
Remember, you are uniquely you, and that is your strength.
