Want to Strengthen Your Community?

Our Youth Community Journalism Institute Can Help.

Every community needs trusted information about their community. Information is power, but today, not every community has the information they need to have power.

OUR MISSION

Strengthen underserved communities through community journalism.

What is Community Journalism?

  • Local news and events
  • Weekly newspapers
  • Online news sites
  • Community radio stations
  • Public access TV
  • Journalists live in communities they cover
  • Small, independent news organizations

The best journalism serves the community.

Our Community Solutions Journalism Program

1. Provide Community Journalism Education

We provide the tools, training, and resources to develop a deep understanding of journalism principles, ethics, media literacy, and the role of journalism in society.

2. Provide Community Journalism Training

We train youth, teachers, community organization leaders, and civic hub managers to practice community journalism and empower their communities.

3. Provide Community Journalism Opportunities

These opportunities include school and community newspapers, community journalism video programs, audio programs, events, internships, special projects, and more.
